For the in vitro LPS studies, confluent cells were serum starved overnight and then treated with LPS (50 μg/ml; 72 h). For the in vivo LPS study, mice were injected (5 mg/kg body wt ip) and then used 72 h later for the study. Biotin uptake was measured as described in Methods. Data are means ± SE of at least 3 independent experiments (*P < 0.01).
