Effects of calprotectin on the cells implicated in the pathogenesis of rheumatic diseases. CLP is mainly produced by activated monocytes and granulocytes and mediates the production of pro-inflammatory cytokines and chemokines, cell activation, and apoptosis in targeted cells.
