The array of complex lipid products formed when BODIPY-C12 is fed to larval zebrafish in a LF/LC diet varies depending on the type of BODIPY label. BODIPY FL-C12 fed in a LF/LC meal is used to make an array of polar and nonpolar lipid products similar to those synthesized when this fluorescent FA is fed in a HF/HC meal (Fig. 4), but in different proportions. In contrast, BODIPY(558/568)-C12 is no longer incorporated into a detectable amount of phospholipid when delivered in a LF/LC diet. Results are representative of five samples per group.
