Murine CC88 isolates coagulate murine plasma faster than human CC88 isolates. Murine (n = 19) and human (n = 17) CC88 isolates were compared in their ability to coagulate murine (A) or human (B) plasma. 500 μl plasma were inoculated with 2.5 × 109 CFU S. aureus and coagulation was visually assessed after 2, 4, and 24 h. At least three technical replicates were performed for each sample, and the average values are depicted as box plots. Boxes indicate the median as well as the 25–75 percentiles; whiskers illustrate the 10–90 percentiles. Statistics: Mann Whitney U-test.
