Gastrulation. During gastrulation, the bilaminar embryonic disc is converted to a trilaminar disc by the formation of mesoderm. There is rapid division of cells in embryonic disc which then detach and migrate between endoderm and ectoderm to form mesoderm. Notochord later develops from mesoderm.
