Effect of I− treatment on mRNA levels of TxnRd1 (A and B), TxnRd2 (C and D), and Gpx2 (E and F). mRNA quantification was done by real-time quantitative RT-PCR 6, 24, 48, and 72 h after I− administration to rats (left panels) and PCCl3 cells (right panels). Rats and cells were treated with MMI (c, hatched bars) or MMI plus I− for 24 h (24, hatched bars). mRNA levels were normalized to Gusb. These data represent the mean ± se of at least three independent experiments performed in triplicate. Statistical significance was evaluated by Student's paired t test. Differences vs. control (c, black bars) for each time point normalized to 1 were considered significant: *, P < 0.05; **, P < 0.01.
