Changes in CD4+ T-cell count and HIV-1 viral load are shown for Case 1 (a) and 2 (b). Triangles represent the results of tropism predicted by deep sequencing. Interferon therapy was provided for treatment of chronic hepatitis C between April 1998 and October 1999. Antiretroviral therapy was initiated in November 2007 and November 2011 in Case 1 and 2, respectively. ART: anti-retroviral therapy, INF: interferon, VL: viral load.
