PSTHs were constructed for modulation frequencies ranging from 40 to 360 Hz (indicated in corresponding panels). Histogram binwidth of the model was 0.5 ms. Both model and actual neurons demonstrated phase locking to the envelope of the stimulus; however, the number of phase-locked spikes in the model response was reduced significantly at 240 Hz, while the actual neural response had synchronized spikes at that frequency.
