IL-6 treatment activates STAT3 and induces SOCS3 in HepG2 cells, and forskolin treatment induces G6Pase expression. HepG2 cells were placed in OptiMEM for 16 h and treated with 20 ng/ml IL-6 for 15 min after which cytosolic and nuclear extracts were prepared. Lysates were analyzed by Western blot for P-STAT3 levels (A). HepG2 cells were treated with IL-6 for the indicated time, and RNA was extracted. qPCR was performed for SOCS3 expression (B).
