Scalp-wide reduction in the number of hairs
Occurs between the ages of 50 and 80 years
No prior history of hair thinning or underlying scalp disease
Presence of follicular miniaturization is inconsistent
Shortening of anagen
Decreased anagen/telogen ratio
Relation to androgens has yet to be determined.(low androgen levels could be a factor)
