Determination of protein homology length (overlap) between TEs from two candidate transfers (clusters of hits). Blastx alignments (HSPs) of TE copies involved in each cluster on RepeatMasker proteins are represented by thin lines, and the blastp HSP between the full-length proteins is represented by the gray box with dashed contour. Protein regions covered by TE copies are the unions of the blastx HSPs that are distant from 10 amino acids or fewer. The overlap was taken as the length of the intersection between both covered regions and the blastp HSP.
