Statistics of behavioral thresholds (BT) estimated by a modified version of Békésy tracking audiometry (Sec. II C). (A) Histogram of BT levels (LBT) in dB HL. 74.7% of the thresholds were below 20 dB HL. Only 3.1% of the pooled data presented BTs higher than 60 dB HL and, therefore, presumably almost complete loss of cochlear amplification. (B) Histogram of the standard deviations, , of LBT. The median value of was = 2.37 dB, suggesting accurate and reproducible estimates of LBT, as required when LBT is used as a reference for establishing the reliability of EDPTs as an objective estimator of auditory thresholds.
