THP-1 macrophages-derived foam cells were treated with 2 µlCi/ml [³H]cholesterol followed by treatment with allicin at 5 g/l for an additional 24 h. Cells were then incubated with or without 10 mg/l apoA-I for 8 h. [³H]cholesterol radioactivity was measured.
