Quantification of changes intracellular insulin content (mean ± SEM) in pancreatic beta cells exposed to 800 kHz ultrasound (1 W/cm2 for 5 min), and sham-treated cells (n=7 per group). A significant reduction (p < 0.05) in the intracellular insulin content was observed immediately after the completion of the ultrasound treatment (t=5 min) and 30 min after the treatment (t=35 min), thus indicating insulin release from the beta cells due to ultrasound exposure.
