Apoplastic fluid containing the secreted PstSCR1 triggers cell death in N. benthamiana in a dose-dependent manner. The infiltration of N. benthamiana was conducted with apoplastic fluid containing processed PstSCR1. (a) Shown is a representative leaf of N. benthamiana infiltrated with apoplastic fluid (with no dilution (600–700 μg/μL), 1:3 and 1:10 dilutions in ddH2O) from N. benthamiana expressing PstSCR1-FLAG and SP-GFP-FLAG. Four days after apoplastic fluid infiltration, the leaves were examined under normal light and UV exposure. (b) Cell death quantification of infiltrated leaf regions.
