The impact of silencing PTEN expression on the apoptosis and cell cycle of HCC827 cells, following treatment with icotinib. (A) Transfection of PTEN siRNA decreased the rate of apoptosis of HCC827 cells, compared with the control group (0.80±0.24% and 2.53±0.54%). (B) A flow cytometry analysis of the cell cycle. The cell fractions in the G0/G1 phase were increased following icotinib treatment (71.08±1.35% and 87.31±2.26%) and no significant difference was observed between the control and PTEN-siRNA groups (66.62±1.42% and 61.14±1.53%). The data are presented as the mean ± standard deviation from three independent experiments. *P<0.05, vs. the control. PTEN, phosphatase and tensin homolog; siRNA, small interfering RNA; NC, negative control.
