Stiffness of SXL-treated sclera. (A) Representative stress-strain curve obtained from tensiometry, comparing untreated sclera and cross-linked sclera, using elastomer waveguide and direct laser illumination. (B) Summary of data with at least six porcine eyes used for each group. The Young's modulus at 8% strain is reported as mean ± standard error. Using the waveguide, the stiffness of scleral tissues at the proximally and distally treated halves of the eye is not significantly different from each other and is similar to the positive control irradiated with direct illumination.
