The characteristic peaks of Mo⁴⁺3d_3/2, Mo⁴⁺3d_5/2, S 2s, S 2p_1/2, and S 2p_3/2 correspond to MoS₂ whereas the peaks of Mo⁶⁺3d_3/2 and Mo⁶⁺3d_5/2 correspond to molybdenum oxide.
