Cid1 and Cid3 have undergone recurrent gene conversion in the montium subgroup. (A) We used the Genetic Algorithm for Recombination Detection (GARD; Kosakovsky Pond et al. 2006) to test for recombination in the montium subgroup Cid1 and Cid3. GARD identified one significant (P = 0.0002) breakpoint between the N-terminal tail and the histone fold domain. (B, C) Maximum likelihood phylogenetic trees from an alignment of GARD segment 1 (B) and GARD segment 2 (C) were subsequently generated using PhyML. Bootstrap values above 75 are displayed.
