(A) Mean PSTHs from 10 MUC in PFL that produced strong response pre- and post-SS. Discharge rate during first 100 ms of PSTH increased significantly post-SS. (B) Mean PSTH from 8 MUC that responded weakly to noise bursts pre-SS. Note large increase in firing rate and broad PSTH 2 h post-SS. (C) Mean PSTHs from 7 MUC with a short-latency (~3 ms) peak in the PSTH pre-SS. Short-latency, onset response disappeared 2 h post-SS and firing rate was largely unaffected by SS.
