Rdp1 localization at centromeres depends on RITS, Dcr1, and heterochromatin assembly factors. (A) Rdp1 associates with constitutive heterochromatic domains. Schematic diagrams show centromere (cen), telomeres (TEL), and the mat locus (mat) (see also Fig. 7, which is published as supporting information on the PNAS web site). Rdp1 localization at ura4+ gene inserted at the outer centromeric repeat (otr1R::ura4+), heterochromatin-nucleation center (cenH) at the mat locus, or telomere associated sequence (TEL) was tested by ChIP. Relative enrichment values are shown underneath each lane. Rdp1 enrichment at TEL was relatively lower compared to otr1R::ura4+ and cenH but was reproducible.
