(C) Horizontal section near the center of the lesion in cat CHRONIC-1. No axonal sparing or growth across the lesion could be identified in Nissl-myelin stained sections. Cysts can be seen in images B and C on the rostral end of the lesion; the presence of cysts has been noted in previous work,12 and was not linked to differences in kinematic recovery.
