Algorithm for magnetic resonance use in patients with suspected acute myocardial infarction with ST-segment elevation. Based on the presence or absence of signs on cardiac catheterization defining the diagnosis of coronary artery disease and its location and the presence of alterations in markers of myocardial necrosis, the findings from the CMR may lead to a definitive diagnosis of myocardial injury. MI: myocardial infarction; CAD: coronary artery disease; CMR: cardiac magnetic resonance; CATH: catheterization; DE: delayed enhancement; LV: left ventricle; RV: right ventricle.
