BdiUng shows broad substrate specificity. Excision assays using BdiUng (1 μg, ∼32 pmol monomer) with (A) ssDNA, and (B) dsDNA containing modified bases (∼0.1 pmol each); inosine (I), xanthine (X) and 5-hydroxymethyluracil (HmU) were carried out at 37°C for 30 min as described in Materials and Methods. The reactions were resolved on 8 M urea PAGE (15%) and imaged.
