Potential role of Gal-1-α4 interactions in limiting eosinophil trafficking and recruitment. In a wild-type setting, Gal-1 interacts with α4, causes cell clustering, increased adhesion in inflamed blood vessels resulting in restricted chemokine-induced migration. In the absence of Gal-1, eosinophils exhibit decreased adhesion in inflamed blood vessels and increased chemokine-induced migration to extravascular sites of inflammation.
