NQO1-dependent cytotoxicity of A549 NSCLC cells after treatment with M-P polymeric micelles. (a) NQO1-expressing A549 cells were treated with free β-lap for 2 h; (b) Cells were treated with free β-lap for 24 h; (c-g) Cells were treated with β-lap-loaded M-P polymeric micelles for (c) 2 h; (d) 8 h; (e) 12 h; and (f) 24 h; (g) Cells treated with micelles in culture medium without FBS; (h) Cytotoxicity of M-P polymer residue, cells were treated for 2, 12 and 24 h. Dicoumarol (DIC) is a fairly specific NQO1 inhibitor and blocked β-lap induced lethality.
