A plasmonic nanocomposite made from densely, but randomly, arranged metallic nanoparticles shall be an integrated part of an optical device, e.g., as an anti-reflection coating. The consideration of the entire material in an optical analysis of such a device is too complicated. Therefore, it should be described by effective optical properties to predict the reflected and transmitted light properly; as indicated in the figure.
