Figure 2.

Therapeutic response as evaluated by PET-CT examination in a 67-year-old female with stage I primary right breast cancer (patient 2 in Table I). (A) PET-CT scan image taken immediately prior to KORTUC II treatment. FDG accumulation is visible at the cancerous region of the right breast. The standardized uptake value maximum is 3.2 and the major axis of the cancer is 15 mm. (B) PET-CT scan image taken 7 months following KORTUC II treatment. The target lesion and the FDG accumulation are no longer visible on the CT image. The therapeutic effect was assessed as complete response. (C) PET-CT scan image taken 19 months later. During the follow-up period, local recurrence and metastasis were not observed. PET-CT, positron emission tomography-computed tomography; KORTUC II, Kochi oxydol-radiation therapy for unresectable carcinomas; FDG, fluorodeoxyglucose 18F.
