G-overhang structure in ΔtbKU80 trypanosomes. DNA was extracted from tbKU80-deficient cells (ΔtbKU80), wild-type cells (wild type) and from HeLa cells (human), and digested with MboI and AluI restriction enzymes. Different amounts of DNA, as indicated in each lane, were separated by gel electrophoresis and analyzed with radiolabeled probes specific for G-overhangs [(CCCTAA)₄, left panels] or C-overhangs [(TTAGGG)₄, right panels]. To confirm equal loading the gels were denatured and re-hybridized with the same probes as above (lower panels). Different exposure times of the gels on a phosphorimager (Molecular Dynamics) are indicated on the right.
