Mice were challenged with HDM or saline 3 days/week for 3 weeks and were subsequently exposed daily for 3 days to poly(I:C) or saline. Mice were treated once daily with azithromycin or vehicle starting 48h before and continuing throughout the poly(I:C) challenges. Lavage of the lungs was performed with PBS 24 h after the final poly(I:C) exposure. Cell count (A), protein concentration (B), LDH levels (C), macrophages (D), eosinophils (E) and neutrophils (F) in BAL fluid were measured and data is presented as mean ± standard error of the mean (SEM). Comparison of different groups was performed by Kruskal-Wallis with Wilcoxon post testing. #p < 0.05, ##p < 0.01. 4-9 mice per group.
