Mtg2p cofractionates with the large ribosomal subunit. Mitochondrial lysates from wild-type cells were separated on 10–30% sucrose gradients containing either 100 mM NH₄Cl (A) or 500 mM NH₄Cl (B) at 135,000 × g for 4 h. Gradient fractions were TCA precipitated, separated by SDS-PAGE, and subjected to immunoblot analysis. Antibodies used were against Mtg2p, Mrp7p, and Mrp13p. The top of the gradient and the migration of the small 37S and large 54S subunit peaks, based on immunoblots, are indicated.
