The H. pylori flotillin-like protein, HP0248, is required for mouse colonization. C57BL/6 mice were inoculated with 107 CFU of H. pylori by intragastric gavage. Quantitative culture assays were performed at 30 days post-infection. Data are presented as Log10colony forming units (CFU)/g stomach, with each point representing the mean of two estimations for a single mouse. Horizontal bars represent the geometric means of viable cell count determinations. The limit of detection for the assay is approximately 1,000 CFU/gram. Data for H. pylori SS1 are pooled from three independent experiments, whereas those for X47-2AL are from 2 (WT, ΔFLOT) and 1 experiment (ΔFLOT (FLOT+)), respectively. Data were analyzed using the Mann-Whitney test *P < 0.05; ****P < 0.0001; ΔP > 0.05.
