Responses to MMS. (A) Levels of SSBs and AP sites induced by treating various CHO cell lines with 100 μM MMS for 30 min at 37°C as determined by alkaline elution at the end of the treatment (0 min) or after 15 min of recovery. (B and C) Effect of APE1 overproduction on survival to MMS treatment. Cells were treated with MMS for 1 h at 37°C at the indicated doses. Surviving clones (>50 cells) were scored after 8 days. Values represent the mean of at least three independent experiments ± SD.
