With application of topical stem cells, liver function recovered better, showing less surge of serum ALT (A ** P<0.01) and higher rate of regeneration in terms of organ wet weight (B). The necrotic area to regeneration scar ratio was smaller in the IRI liver with topical stem cells (C, **P<0.01) on day 3 and day 7. The proliferation indices Ki67 in the spindle cells of the regeneration scar and the nearby hepatocytes were also lower in the IRI liver with topical stem cells (D and E, respectively).
