Mouse peritoneal macrophages were pretreated with PBS or Huaier (8 mM) for 2 h and then primed with LPS (100 ng/ml) for 8 h and stimulated with ATP (2 mM) for 30 min. Western blot analysis was of caspase-1 p10 and p20 in the supernatants (SN) and pro-caspase-1 and NLRP3 in cell lysates (CL). Similar results were obtained in three independent experiments.
