The UL18 genetic variants can bind β2m. Ig fusion proteins UL18-E, -J, and -AD169 were immunoprecipitated with protein A-Sepharose, run in SDS-polyacrylamide gel electrophoresis, and then analyzed by immunoblotting with MAb BBM1, specific for human β2m. The blots were then stripped and reprobed with antiserum specific for the Fc portion of human Ig to confirm equal loading of the UL18-Ig proteins.
