Inhibition of protein kinase C β2 (PKCβ2) pathway reduces advanced glycation end product (AGE)-induced NADPH oxidase activity and reactive oxygen species (ROS) synthesis. (A) Western blot analysis was used to examine the effect of PKCβ2 inhibitor on AGE-associated NAPDH protein expression. β-actin was used as the loading control of the protein blot. Optical densitometry was used to quantify the brightness of protein bands; (B) a ROS detection assay was used to examine the effect of PKCβ2 inhibitor on AGE-associated intracellular ROS level in the cells.
