Time course of an exemplary trial: Subjects were presented a fixation screen for 800 ms, and then the first multimodal stimulus for 100 ms. Afterwards, another fixation screen was presented for 600 ms, and the second multimodal stimulus with a cue-conflict (spatial discrepancy of −4° visual angle) was presented for 100 ms. Subjects were asked to report whether the second stimulus was to the left or right of the first one. They also reported their confidence on a scale of 1 (low confidence) to 4 (high confidence).
