Microscopic inspection of cells of A. calcoaceticus. Cells of A. calcoaceticus were cultivated for 44 h at 30°C in MSM containing 75 mM arginine and 10 mM ammonium sulfate. After this, the cells were harvested and examined by phase-contrast light microscopy (A) or were fixed and examined by electron microscopy as described in Materials and Methods (B to E).
