Table 3. Summary of Adjusted Outcomes for Patients Treated at Low-Volume (≤22 Cases per Year) vs High-Volume (>22 Cases per Year) Hospitalsa.
Outcome | Odds Ratio (95% CI) | Increase, % (95% CI) | P Value |
---|---|---|---|
Overall complications | 1.68 (1.03 to 2.94) | NA | .04 |
Length of surgical stay | NA | 18 (−3 to 44) | .09 |
Hospital costs | NA | 7 (−5 to 23) | .26 |
Abbreviation: NA, not applicable.
Outcomes were examined in separate multivariable models, whereby the adjusted association of each outcome was modeled against hospital volume status while accounting for the effects of patient age, sex, race/ethnicity, comorbidities, and clinical pancreatic-related diagnosis, and the correlation of outcomes of patients who were treated at the same hospital.
