Advanced oxidative protein products-induced DRG neurons apoptosis was mediated through the Nox4–JNK–caspase cascade–PARP pathway. (A) DRG neurons were pre-incubated with siRNA Nox4, DPI (10 μM), NAC (2 mM), an JNK inhibitor (SP600125, 10 μM) or the broad-spectrum caspase inhibitor Z-VAD-fmk (20 μM) before AOPPs–RSA treatment. They all inhibited AOPPs-induced cell apoptosis. (B) The expression of PARP-1/ cleaved-PARP-1 were tested by western blots.
