Visual aids used in post-scan behavioral testing. Pictorial cue cards were used to assist understanding and responding on the post-scan behavioral tasks. For the test assessing temporal processing (top panels), on each trial participants were asked to decide whether the sounds they heard came regularly or irregularly. For the test assessing processing of phonemic structure (middle panels), participants were asked to decide whether the sounds were made by a human or by a computer. For the test assessing processing of sequence entropy, participants were asked to decide whether the sounds were arranged randomly or following a pattern. On each trial, participants were able to respond verbally or by pointing to the appropriate cue card.
