Time course of the plasma levels of the cytokine profiles and KL-6. (1): Pro-inflammatory cytokines; (2): Th1 cytokines; (3): Th2 cytokines; (4): growth factors, and (5): chemokines. Among the cytokine profiles, serum IL-6, IL-8, IL-10, IL-13, IL-17, and IFNγ levels were remarkably elevated shortly after birth, but they declined rapidly, and all were within normal range by 2 days of life. The level of serum KL-6 (lower right panel) had increased markedly to 611 U/mL at 44 hours after birth and then decreased gradually thereafter.
