AAV-shRNA treatment attenuates collagen deposition and liver fibrosis in HBV-persistent mice. Mice received AAV2-shRNA treatment and were euthanized at 6 months post vector administration. Collagen deposition and collagen fibers were examined by Masson’s trichrome (a) and Sirius red staining (c) of the liver sections, respectively. Sirius red staining was observed under polarizing microscope. Ten random fields were selected per slide, and the percentages of hepatocytes with collagen deposition (b) and collagen fibers (d) were quantified using Image-Pro Plus.
