FIGURE 1

PFGE patterns of group A Streptococcus (GAS) isolates from patients and healthy people in the investigation. According to the Tenover criteria (Tenover et al., 1995), isolates with 0, 2–3, 4–6, and ≥7 bands different from the outbreak strain were designated as genetically indistinguishable, closely related, possible related, and different pattern, respectively, which means the isolates were part, probably part, possibly part, and not part of the outbreak, respectively. PFGE, pulsed-field gel electrophoresis.
