Table 3.

Comparisons with pink noise as a control.

Center frequency (kHz) Bandwidth (octaves) t-value p-value
0.5 1/12 6.42 2.42 × 10−8*
1/3 7.73 6.42 × 10−12*
1.5 8.27 2.68 × 10−13*
1.5 1/12 6.53 5.73 × 10−9*
1/3 4.13 5.16 × 10−4*
1.5 1.69 0.437 (ns)
4 1/12 3.60 3.63 × 10−3*
1/3 3.77 2.06 × 10−3*
1.5 3.07 1.92 × 10−2*

Comparisons between the correlation coefficients obtained for pink noise with those obtained for the filtered bands, by means of t-tests. For each comparison, the t- and p-value are reported following Dunnett's method for comparing several treatments against a control. Asterisks indicate statistically significant differences at the (family-wise) 0.05 level. The t-value corresponds to 9 comparisons and 126 degrees of freedom (15 participants).
