^aWhere applicable, DNA was incubated with a subsaturating concentration of UL9 (25 nM) in reaction buffer containing 2.5 mM EDTA as described in Materials and Methods. Reactions were initiated by the addition of MgCl₂ (6 mM) with or without UL42 (50 nM) to the final concentrations indicated.
