The photoluminescence CIE coordinates were obtained using a fluorescence spectrophotometer with integrating sphere and corrected CCD detector.15 The ECL CIE coordinates were calculated using the mean RGB values19 for the circular area of the electrode in the photographs shown in subsequent figures. The colour space representation was generated with efg's Computer Lab software.
