Figure 4.

Optical coherence tomography (OCT) images of XIAP-injected, detached retina at various time points after detachment. Panels on the right show an image of the cannula making the retinotomy to inject the C3F8 gas (top) and the fundus image of the retina at 10 weeks after the detachment (bottom). The arrowhead in both images identifies a minor arching blood vessel, which can be used to identify the retinotomy for the gas injection reproducibly (arrow) and for the viral injection (asterisk). OCT images on the left, through the plane of the gas injection or the virus injection, show that the retina has reattached, with no appearance of abnormal pathology due to the detachment. Small areas of elevation in the OCT may represent large blood vessels.
