3-MA reversed z-VAD-FMK-induces apoptosis inhibition and proliferation in curcumin treated MG63 cells. (A and B) MG63 cells were treated with curcumin, z-VAD-FMK or in combination with 3-MA. Following treatment with these therapies for 24 h, cell apoptosis was determined by flow cytometry. An accumulation of apoptotic cells was observed upon treatment with curcumin, z-VAD-FMK and 3-MA combined treatment compared with curcumin and z-VAD-FMK in MG63 cells. (C) Following treatment with these therapies for 24 h, cell proliferation was determined by a cell counting kit-8 assay. 3-MA reversed z-VAD-FMK induced proliferation in curcumin treated MG63 cells. Data are presented as the mean ± standard deviation, n=3. *P<0.05. FITC, fluorescein isothiocyanate; PI, propidium iodide; 3-MA, 3-methyladenine.
